Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT PROTECTION DOES THE VERY YOUNG ATHLETE NEED?
The young athletes teeth are ever changing like the rest of their bodies. The boil and bites are difficult to fit because most children do not like to place hot things in their mouths. The mouth guard is uncomfortable and most children hate them. Don’t always blame the child for losing the ill fitted guard maybe you have to blame the ill-fitted guard. Start the young athlete out with a great guard and they are more likely to continue to wear them as teenagers. We do offer the young player a multi-laminated custom guard at a discounted fee and we have a financial policy for the growing athlete. Our impression material is user friendly even for the very young.

HOW LONG DOES A MOUTH GUARD LAST?
It depends on how well you take care of this protective equipment. We guarantee the fit for the next three months of the sport. We offer a special program for the youth athletes with discounted rates... Adults can wear the same guard longer because their dentition is stable.

WHAT IF THE ATHLETE HAS BRACES?
A properly fitted guard may be especially important for athletes with braces. A blow to the face can damage the brackets. A mouth guard can provide a barrier to protect the dental work and also your tissues. We make a non bulky heat pressure multi-laminated mouth guard which can be reheated to allow for tooth movement. We also discount the fee for the orthodontic athletes because you will need another one once your braces are removed.

ARE MOUTH GUARDS WITH GEL LINERS BETTER?
There are no universally accepted tests for these mouth guards. The bond between the shell and the gel are minimal: no lamination. There may also be hygiene problem with the gel itself.

CAN I ORDER A MOUTH GUARD OTHER THAN WHAT IS PICTURED?
Yes, these are considered special orders and need to be addressed by a special phone call to Pro-Sport.
